Other Tests
As a STEAM school, our achievements arise from our capacity to flexibly oversee, assess, and incorporate research-based learning tools to enhance our students’ welfare. At TMSA Apex, students encounter a variety of assessments throughout their academic journey, uniquely equipping them for a happy and fulfilling life.
MAP Growth, part of the Growth Activation Solution from NWEA, is a trusted, innovative assessment for measuring achievement and growth in Math, Reading, Language Usage, and Science.
MAP Growth tests are computer-adaptive. If a student answers incorrectly, the test adjusts and presents questions at different levels until consistent success is shown—yielding a clear indication of each student’s capabilities.
Reliable insights help TMSA Apex teachers find common areas of need, identify who may benefit from intervention, and determine which instructional strategies are generating the most academic growth. At TMSA Apex, MAP assessments are conducted three times per year.
TMSA Apex 8th graders take the PSAT 8/9 before starting high school, helping them set goals and track early readiness for high school coursework. PSAT 8/9 is important for our 8th graders because it:
- Establishes a baseline—showing where students are and which skills to practice so they can continue to improve.
- Suggests potential AP courses using the personalized AP Potential view in the PSAT 8/9 score report.
- Supports college and career exploration via BigFuture, where students get guidance based on their scores, search for colleges, and explore careers.
